Advocacy Committee at Work

Currently the advocacy committee is looking into LD 985- An act to maintain high school diploma standards by repealing proficiency-based diploma standards and adding the equivalent in standards achievement.

In the bill (passed in May 2019) Health and PE were not listed as graduation requirements.

For more information on LD 985 check here.

Maine AHPERD is speaking up but so should you.  Contact your representatives and let them know about this oversight.

Voices for Healthy Kids

Physical Education Tool Kit

The benefits of physical education (PE) ring clear as a school bell. With PE, we can keep kids’ hearts healthy and their minds in gear to do their best at school. The fact is, active kids learn better. And the benefits don’t end there. Physical education has positive impacts on their physical, mental, and emotional health.
