MAHPERD MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS
The Maine Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance provides the following benefits for its members:

ANNUAL CONFERENCE
Maine’s three-day annual conference is held the first week of November and features in-depth workshops, up-to-date practical and hands-on sessions and demonstrations in Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Dance and other related topics.  Conference exhibitors provide information on the latest programs, equipment and classroom resources.

ENews and CONFERENCE NEWSLETTER
The MAHPERD ENews provides members with the most current events, research, resources, programs and grant and professional development opportunities and is sent periodically throughout the school year. Updates from the Maine Department of Education and SHAPE America are included. The MAHPERD Conference Newsletter is published in August.

The MAHPERD website provides the latest information on the annual conference, grant opportunities, upcoming events, employment opportunities, advocacy, and a message board with a chat room.

HONOR AND TEACHER OF THE YEAR AWARDS
Honor Awards are presented to MAHPERD members in recognition of their excellence to their profession and commitment to MAHPERD. Teacher of the Year Awards are presented to health education, physical education and adapted physical education teachers who have demonstrated outstanding dedication to their students and profession. Eligibility requirements include prior and current membership in MAHPERD. The Layperson Honor Award goes to supporters of our professions.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANTS
Grants of $150 are offered to MAHPERD members who attend a MAHPERD annual conference or SHAPE America Conference.

WORKSHOPS
MAHPERD offers regional workshops either free or at a reduced cost for MAHPERD members.
