A Message From the Executive Director

Welcome to 2019!  I hope you had a nice holiday and a nice break from your daily vocation.  It's always nice to re-charge our batteries for the push through winter.  As I start this message today we have just had the winter solstice,  a day that I look forward to more and more each year.

The MAHPERD board will be spending Sunday, January 13th together for the annual Leadership training.  This is the first order of business for your new President, Susan Berry.  We have added three new board members:

Christopher Nightingale

Teaches physical education methods and pedagogy courses at the University of Maine Orono

Scott Pelletier                                                                                                K-12 Physical Education and Health Education Teacher, MSAD #33

John McCullagh                                                                                          Teaches grades 9-12 health at Gray New Gloucester High School

All the best for 2019!

A Message From the MAHPERD President

Dear Maine AHPERD Members,

Happy New Year All!  I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday break,  made your resolutions, are refreshed and are now ready to embrace the Maine winter.  It is my privilege to serve as your president this year and I will be working closely with the members of the board and our outstanding executive director, Deb Smith. The MAHPERD Board is comprised of your colleagues who volunteer to work on your behalf. We we will gather this month to reflect on the past year, set goals for the new year (aligned to our mission) and begin planning the 74th annual conference. Maine is so fortunate to have professionals in health education, physical education, recreation, and dance that are among the best in the country.  I want to thank all of you for your commitment to the profession and to improving the health and well-being of the youth in our state.
If you have any suggestions, questions, or concerns regarding your organization, please feel free to contact me at maineahperdpresidentberry@gmail.com.
